Where do the calculator's assumptions come from?

They're stated on the page and deliberately simple: a major decision puts roughly 8% of revenue in play; unstructured decisions leak 1.5–3% of value at stake; structure offsets the leak on a 25–85% scale; capital events multiply stakes. It's directional framing for a board conversation, not a valuation.

Is this just a sales pitch dressed as maths?

It's an argument with its working shown. If your inputs say the leak is small — for instance, with a chaired board — the tool says so. The honest cases are what make the expensive ones credible.

What counts as a 'major decision'?

Anything the board should frame before it's irreversible: senior hires and exits, pricing and channel moves, capital spend, major contracts, market entries, funding choices.
